WHAT IS A FABRIC DEFECT &
HOW IS IT SCORED?

Fabric faults are detected in real-time and automatically scored using the industry-standard Four-Point System.

Up to 3 inches (75 mm)

Minor defect or short localized yarn imperfection.

2 PointsRule 2

3 to 6 inches (75 – 150 mm)

Medium imperfection extending across several warp/weft yarns.

3 PointsRule 3

6 to 9 inches (150 – 230 mm)

Major imperfection affecting fabric appearance or strength.

4 PointsRule 4

Over 9 inches (230 mm+) or Holes

Critical defect or any physical hole/tear regardless of size.

3. How Total Roll Grade is Calculated

ASTM D5430 Standard Formula

After inspecting a fabric roll, total penalty points are normalized per 100 square yards to determine if the roll passes export quality standards.

Official Four-Point Formula
Points / 100 yd² = (Total Points × 3,600) ÷ (Yards × Width Ins)

Example Roll Calculation:

Fabric Roll Spec:100 Yards Length × 60 Inches Width
Defects Found:3 Slubs (3 pts) + 1 Hole (4 pts) = 7 Pts
Formula Output:(7 × 3,600) ÷ (100 × 60) = 4.2 Pts
Acceptance Result:PASS (Grade A · Limit: 40 pts)
